The three wealthiest characters in fiction (and why they would need an accountant)

||

Accountants are generally associated with people who are self-employed or large companies with vast turnovers. However, the parties do not have to be real to require the services of a reputable financial outsourcing agency.

Whether you are Scrooge McDuck and concerned about inheritance tax or Bruce Wayne worrying about Wayne Enterprise’s cash flow, there are many wealthy fictional characters that could benefit from taking on an established accountant, with the following being just three of them:

Willy Wonka

Willy Wonka is one of the most famous fictional characters. The owner of a sweet factory, this successful entrepreneur started a process to find an heir for his enterprise, which turned out to be Charlie Bucket. As a business man, Wonka would need an accountant to make sure that his company was running efficiently, with all tax allowances, relief and expenses claimed for in a timely manner.

He would also need to consider proper payroll management to keep his Oompa-Loompas happy. As heir to the vast empire left by Wonka, Charlie may be left with an inheritance tax bill. With a little foresight and the skills of a reputable accountant, Wonka could reduce the bill with some tax planning.

Mr Monopoly

Mr Monopoly is known to many people as Rich Uncle Pennybags and features in the popular Monopoly game. Mr Monopoly has made his money from real estate, which will attract various types of tax in the UK. If he buys property, he may have to pay Stamp Duty as well, depending on the purchase price of the building. When he sells property, he may have to pay Capital Gains Tax, unless it is his main residence. An accountant will be able to minimise the tax paid, and provide advice before undertaking property transactions.

Mr Burns

Charles Montgomery Burns, known as Monty to his closest associates, is fixated on increasing his wealth, often at any cost. Burns is the owner of Springfield Nuclear Power Plant and uses his wealth to do anything he wants, which usually involves flying in the face of authority.

An accountant would be able to provide advice regarding investments, so that Mr Burns could continue to build his empire. In one episode of The Simpsons, Burns almost made Bart Simpson heir to his fortune, so inheritance tax advice would have been appropriate considering his vast wealth.
